Custom Heart Name Bracelet

Posted October 10, 2008

A customer of mine recently ordered this bracelet and I thought it was so cute, I just had to share.  It’s a great example of ‘customizing your own’ by adding the heart swirl charms and stones to a heart bracelet.  My customers have the best ideas!  Enjoy!

Semi-precious stones – coming soon!

Grandma necklace with semi-precious stones

Grandma necklace with semi-precious stones

Speaking of semi-precious stones!  My assistant, Heidy (who is awesome!) has been busy preparing all my new semi-precious stones to be available for add-ons to my necklaces and bracelets.  I carefully hand-picked a stone or two that would represent each birth month.  They are all different and will look great added to necklaces and bracelets.  Here is a teaser of a Grandma necklace I just designed – it has a silver puffed heart, a garnet, a sapphire and a fresh water pearl – all hanging with a shiny disc with a heart cut-out, and the word Grandma stamped on it.  This high-polish charm can have MOM or a name stamped on it too.  So pretty!

Heart On Your Wrist – “Mom” Necklace

Posted September 28, 2008

Mom Necklace with heart and pearl

Mom Necklace with heart and pearl

I love this Mom necklace – it is really shiny (called high-polish) with a one point diamond embedded in the charm.  It has a dressy look to it, but looks great with jeans and a t-shirt.  I’ve been wearing it with four of my new semi-precious stones (that I am about to add to my site) and it is so pretty and dainty, with splashes of color from the stones.  A great gift for any mom.

Bis Sis Lil Sis Matching Necklaces

Bis Sis Lil Sis Matching Necklaces

Just added – these cute matching sister necklaces. One sterling teardrop charm hand stamped with “Big Sis” and one is stamped with “Lil Sis”.  A sterling puffed heart and pink cultured pearl hang on each side of the charms.  These necklaces are just so sweet and dainty.  My daugter loves hers (she has Big Sis only, since she has two younger brothers) and wears it to school to let everyone know what a proud big sis she is.

Book of Love – new design

Posted August 27, 2008

This little “Book of Love” is the latest addition to my line.  I made this sample for my sister, and there is one page for each of her boys.  It makes them each feel special when she wears it, and it’s a cute Mommy statement that she can wear all day.

The possibilities for this necklace are endless - anything you say to your kids or your honey, or any words or names you’d like to wear but also keep kind of discreet can be put in this book.  It’s just a fun little addition that I hope to do more with.  My customers come up with the best ideas – so have fun with it!

What is gold-filled jewelry?

Posted August 18, 2008

What exactly is gold-filled jewelry?  Gold-filled charms and chains are a great economical option to solid 14 karat gold.  It looks and feels the same as 14 karat, but is much cheaper to purchase.   In fact, gold-filled has a solid layer of 14 karat gold in contact with your eyes and skin, so it really is like having solid 14 karat from a look and feel perspective.

Half inch gold-filled discs with puffy heart

Half inch gold-filled discs with gold-filled puffy heart

Gold filled jewelry (also called gold overlay) is regulated by law, and must have a 1/20th (by weight) layer of 14 karat gold permanently bonded over a core of base metal, such as brass.  In contrast, Gold-plated is not regulated by law, and has about 1/100th the amount of real gold on its surface.  The gold on gold-plated can also flake off, whereas the gold on gold-filled items will not rub off or flake off with wear.   Gold-filled is tarnish-resistant and safe for most people with sensitive skin who can wear solid 14 karat gold jewelry.  So gold-filled jewelry is a great economical way to enjoy the substance and shine of gold without the big price tag.

I have carried and worked with both solid 14 karat gold discs and gold-filled discs, and I can honestly say that in looking at them, I cannot tell the difference between them.  In fact, the solid 14k metal tends to be softer than the gold-filled and is therefore harder to work with, from a stamping perspective.  I plan to have a few new gold-filled items I will be adding to the site soon, too.  So keep checking back!

New design added to my line!

Posted July 23, 2008

Sterling Heart on Gold Disc

Sterling Heart on Gold Disc

Yippee, I found myself with a bit of ‘free’ time today so added another new product, the Sterling Heart on Gold Disc, to my site.  This one is very different as it is one of my first mixed metal pieces.  I took a gold-filled 5/8″ disc and overlayed a sterling heart with the name Alex on it.  I then domed the whole piece to give it a rounded look.  It was fun to make and I love the look of the two different metals together.  This looks great with a sterling chain but if you’d prefer gold, you can order it without a chain and then add a gold chain from the Chains/Chords page

I found some other new materials, including copper discs and more gold-filled shapes.  Now it’s just a matter of adding them all to the site, one by one.  Each one takes a little time to photograph, edit, price, add options to, upload, etc.   But I’m working on it!!  Have a great week!

New hand-stamped jewelry designs, just added

Posted July 22, 2008

I have a few new designs on my site that I recently added, and I have been busy this summer creating lots of other new items that haven’t gotten past the assembly and photography stage.  But those will be added to my site soon, as well, a piece at a time.

You can see all the new items at once by going to the What’s New page on my site.  What you’ll see there now is my new line of Initial Necklaces, all of which can be bought with or without a chain.  They can be added to a pieice of jewelry you already own, or I can assemble a new piece for you with a chain and stones or other charms of your choice.  In fact, any charm on my site can really be turned into Initial Jewelry by just requesting the large, initial font in the special instructions box.  You aren’t limited to what I dreamed up!

Happy Heart Necklace

I also added two new versions of my Happy Heart.  One is simple with a name or word (shown here with Grandma) surrounded by tiny stars or polka-dots.  The other version has a smaller sterling heart stamped with a name or word that is then permanently attached to the larger heart.  It is appropriately named Happy Heart on Heart (sorry, I don’t always get that creative with my product names) and it’s very fun and unique and something I came up with while playing around with mixing different pieces and shapes.

Remember to keep checking back as my goal this summer is to keep adding new designs and options.
